Volunteer Spotlight: February 2022

Every single week across each of our regions, we have dedicated volunteers who give their time, passion, and resources to support our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Each month, we want to take the time to honor and recognize the impact, hard work, commitment, and power of our volunteers in each of our regions. We are incredibly grateful for their support and would not be able to do the work without them.

Santa Barbara: Hydration Stations have been included in PATH Santa Barbara’s site renovations!

In 2021, the El Gato Channel Foundation had a 2021 Equal Hydration Project that facilitated the installation of two hydration stations at PATH Santa Barbara! As we have been wrapping up our renovations at our interim housing site in Santa Barbara, we are grateful for these two new additions making it easier than ever to refill water bottles and reduce plastic waste. And that’s not all! El Gato Channel Foundation also supplied reusable water bottles to all our interim housing residents! Thank you so much for installing these stations and encouraging our residents to reduce, reuse, and recycle in the new year!

Los Angeles: L.A. Works donated welcome home kits to PATH’s newest residents!

It’s the new year and many of our residents have been moving into their new apartments! As our residents settle into their new homes, it’s important we provide them with the essentials to make their move in as easy as possible. Thanks to L.A. Works, a Los Angeles based nonprofit aimed at encouraging volunteer engagement with local nonprofit partners like PATH, we were able to work together to collect much needed welcome home kits. Each kit goes a long way in ensuring our residents’ apartments are move-in ready and stocked with essentials! These kits included important items like cleaning supplies, kitchen utensils, and hygiene supplies. Thank you for your community support and helping our neighbors feel welcomed into their new space.

San Diego: IKEA brings comfort to PATH San Diego!

We are very grateful to IKEA for partnering with PATH for Random Acts of Kindness Day! This past month, they installed a donation bin to encourage kindness and collect new pillows, blankets, and throws for our residents moving into supportive housing. Thank you for your vision to create a better every day life for the people we serve and helping create a comfortable space for our newest residents!

San Jose: Thumbs up for a successful donation drive!

Thank you to Debby Chang and Grace South Bay Church for hosting a donation drive for our residents at Villas on the Park. Together, they collected much needed items like shampoo and laundry detergent as well as toaster ovens and other kitchen supplies to help welcome our new residents into their new homes. Thumbs up for a successful donation drive!
