Matthew Soto

Dr. Matthew Soto (he/him) joined PATH in 2022 and serves as the inaugural Chief of Workforce Development. In this role, Matthew leads PATH’s workforce development and culture initiatives, creating programs and strategies to support employee growth, engagement, and organizational excellence. With over a decade of experience, Matthew has cultivated an interdisciplinary professional portfolio across higher education, media & technology, and non-profit sectors. Before joining PATH, Matthew served as a workforce leader at BuzzFeed, Inc. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Los Angeles Room and Board, an LA-based organization dedicated to ending homelessness and hunger for college students and transitional-aged youth.

Matthew received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Ethnic Studies from Cal Lutheran University, his Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Cal State, Northridge, and his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy from Cal State, Northridge. Matthew’s doctoral research was focused on the resilience and joy of queer people of color in predominantly white and heteronormative spaces. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys local coffee shops, street tacos, and spending time with his family and two dogs, Murphy and Pico.
